According to a Bloomberg report, the product will have ‘Reality’ in its name for the upcoming headsets. There have been three separate patent fillings for Reality One, Reality Pro and Reality Processor. All filings mention “virtual and augmented reality headsets, goggles, glasses, and smartglasses,” the report said.

The report also stated that an older patent application with ‘realityOS’ was also filed which may be the new headset’s operating system.

In addition to the US, ‘Reality’ patent filings were registered across Canada, the EU, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Costa Rica, Uruguay and the UK. However, the patent applications were submitted by a company called Immersive Health Solutions, LLC, not Apple, as per the US Trademark and Patent Office.

The GSM Arena reported that big companies like Apple often use shell companies to fill out patents to keep their upcoming projects under wraps. The original report says that the Delaware-based was registered by Corporation Trust Co. – another shell company that also appeared on the realityOS trademark.

Apple’s all-new mixed reality headset will reportedly offer VR and AR versions of the brand’s own apps including FaceTime and Maps as well as options for consuming media, sports and gaming in VR.

The reports got a lot of fans excited for the upcoming Apple Event, but it was understood that the iPhone-maker will not announce its mixed reality headset next week at the Far Out event on September 7. Furthermore, GSM Arena reported that these headsets may be available in January 2023.
